Grey Bears distributes 2.6 million pounds of food to seniors every year through our Brown Bag Program, and to local charities that serve seniors. Our recycling programs divert 18,000 tons of waste from landfills every year. Volunteers are the heart and soul of Grey Bears – from gleaning, quality control and composting, assembling and delivering weekly bags of groceries, to running the Thrift Store and Computer Electronics Store, staffing the office and helping with classes and events. This video was created by the Volunteer Center, who selected Grey Bears for the 2011 Be the Difference Award group winner.
We also produce four major events each year that are free for all seniors age 55+: the 39th Annual Holiday Dinner in December, Volunteer Recognition luncheon in late May, Pancake Breakfast in July and the Harvest Picnic in late September. Please contact us to learn more!
