Volunteers Work Year Round

  • Gleaners go out once a week to harvest produce in the tri-county area. The fresh produce is used in the weekly Brown Bags.
  • Drivers pick up donated food seven days a week. They also drive on shut-in routes and to distribution sites to deliver the Brown Bags to recipients. Drivers are essential to the program.
  • Newspaper Rolling for the floral industry occurs five days a week all day and is a fundraiser for Grey Bears.
  • Earth Tubs turn unused produce from the Brown Bag Program into high-quality compost for gardens. We sell the compost "dirt cheap." We also do vermiculture on a smaller scale.
  • Thrift Store is open Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 2 pm. We hold a half-price sale on the second Saturday of the month. It's a great place to volunteer or to find discarded treasures or antiques.
  • Arts & Crafts group specializes in hand-made, one-of-a-kind gifts. They meet twice a month.
  • Computer Refurbishing is our newest activity. We convert donated equipment into working units and provide seniors with tech support to get started on the information highway.
